“I need someone to tell me it will be okay.”

“I can’t trust my own judgment on this. Someone has to reassure me.”

When your voice says:

“I can’t trust my own judgment on this. Someone has to reassure me.”

“Just one more reassurance and then I’ll feel better.”

Coach Lynn says:

While seeking comfort from others offers temporary relief, over-relying on external validation can convince your brain that you are incapable of managing on your own.

Then you say:

Here’s what I need to do:

  • Settle my body by taking one or more Composure Breaths.
  • Lead with my own grounded viewpoint: “Even without absolute certainty, I can handle taking the next step forward.”
  • Examine the known facts to identify immediate, realistic actions I can take.
  • Seek constructive collaboration or support when necessary, rather than absolute guarantees.

Coach Lynn says:

While reassurance from others is comforting, you do not require a guarantee to take action. Trusting your own judgment first fosters the inner steadiness needed to steer through uncertainty.
