“What is wrong with me?”

“Something is fundamentally wrong with me.”

When your voice says:

“Something is fundamentally wrong with me.”

“This mistake says everything about who I am.”

Coach Lynn says:

That is global labeling. A hard moment can tell you something about a situation without defining who you are.

Then you say:

Here’s what I need to do:

  • Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
  • State what happened in one plain sentence.
  • Remove the labels and insults.
  • Ask: “What is one useful response to this specific problem?”

Coach Lynn says:

A problem is something you face, not who you are. As you learn to trust yourself again, your inner critic grows quieter, and you move forward with confidence and strength.
