“I need to keep checking.”
“If I stop checking, something will go wrong.”
When your voice says:
“If I stop checking, something will go wrong.”
“Just one more check.”
Coach Lynn says:
Repeated checking can create a false sense that safety depends on constant vigilance. A reasonable check plan is more useful than endless monitoring.
Then you say:
Here’s what I need to do:
- Settle my body with one or more Composure Breaths.
- Decide what needs checking and how often.
- Use that planned limit.
- Do not add another check just to relieve the feeling of uncertainty.
Coach Lynn says:
A good plan protects better than constant vigilance. When you stick to your check-in limits, the anxious pull eases and your attention returns to the life in front of you.
