“I can’t relax until it is handled.”
“I can’t rest until every loose end is tied up.”
When your voice says:
“I can’t rest until every loose end is tied up.”
“I need to keep thinking about this until it’s handled.”
Coach Lynn says:
Constant monitoring can feel responsible, but it can keep your nervous system working long after you complete a useful action.
Then you say:
Here’s what I need to do:
- Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
- Identify the next time the issue actually needs review.
- Put that time on my calendar or note it clearly.
- Disengage until the review time arrives.
Coach Lynn says:
A scheduled review can hold the problem so you don’t have to hold it every minute. When you put it on the calendar and step away, your mind gets the rest it needs to come back sharp.
