“No one else will do it right.”

“If they do it differently, they’ll do it wrong.”

When your voice says:

“If they do it differently, they’ll do it wrong.”

“It’s faster if I just take over.”

Coach Lynn says:

Your way may be effective, but it is not always the only competent way. Taking over everything can exhaust you and prevent others from contributing.

Then you say:

Here’s what I need to do:

  • Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
  • Ask: "What result really matters here?" Put it in one sentence, such as "The report is accurate and done by Friday."
  • Hand off one clear piece, with what "done" looks like and when it's due: "Can you handle ___ by ___?"
  • If their way is different but still gets that result, let it stand. Different isn't wrong.

Coach Lynn says:

You can protect the outcome without controlling every step. When you trust others to do it their way, you lighten your load and help everyone around you grow stronger.
