“I should have done more.”
“I should have known better back then.”
When your voice says:
“I should have known better back then.”
“I could have done so much more.”
Coach Lynn says:
Hindsight can make the past look simpler than it felt while you were inside it. A fair review includes what was realistically possible then.
Then you say:
Here’s what I need to do:
- Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
- Go back to that moment and write down what I knew then, the help I had, and what I was dealing with, such as time, energy, stress, or other demands.
- List what I actually did, including the small efforts I'm overlooking.
- Name one thing I'd do differently with what I know now, and let that be enough. I did what I could with what I had.
Coach Lynn says:
Hindsight sees what the moment couldn't. When you judge your past self by what you knew then, you keep the lesson, drop the blame, and move forward wiser.
