“I ruined everything.”

“I destroyed it all.”

When your voice says:

“I destroyed it all.”

“Nothing can be fixed now.”

Coach Lynn says:

This is catastrophizing and global self-blame. Something may have been harmed without everything being destroyed.

Then you say:

Here’s what I need to do:

  • Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
  • Describe the specific effect of what happened.
  • Separate that effect from the total story.
  • Identify one repair, acceptance, or next step.

Coach Lynn says:

A painful chapter isn’t your whole story. When you keep the lesson and release the pain, you can move forward wiser without carrying yesterday’s sting.
