“If only I had …”

“If only I had made a different choice.”

When your voice says:

“If only I had made a different choice.”

“I can’t stop thinking about how it should have gone.”

Coach Lynn says:

Reflecting on alternate outcomes can provide valuable lessons, but obsessing over "if only" keeps you trapped in the past.

Then you say:

Here’s what I need to do:

  • Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
  • Name one lesson from the event.
  • Ask whether any repair remains possible.
  • If not, choose one action that carries the lesson forward.

Coach Lynn says:

The lesson belongs in your next choice, not in punishing yourself for the last one. When you quiet the noise and think clearly, you can take practical action and build real resilience.
