“One mistake will ruin everything.”
“One slip and it’s a catastrophe.”
When your voice says:
“One slip and it’s a catastrophe.”
“Something went wrong, so everything is ruined.”
Coach Lynn says:
This is catastrophizing. A stumble or mistake may have real consequences, but that doesn't make it an all-out disaster.
Then you say:
Here’s what I need to do:
- Settle my body by taking one or more Composure Breaths.
- Focus on the most likely outcome instead of fixating only on the worst-case scenario.
- Pinpoint one actionable repair step within my direct control.
- Execute that step before declaring the entire situation lost.
Coach Lynn says:
A mistake requires a simple repair, not a life sentence. Taking the next constructive step steadies your mind, safeguards what matters, and keeps you moving forward with composure.
