“I need to check it one more time.”
“I already reviewed it, but I need to look again.”
When your voice says:
“I already reviewed it, but I need to look again.”
“One more check and I’ll finally feel sure.”
Coach Lynn says:
The relief from checking teaches your mind to demand more checking. The way out is not perfect certainty. It is practicing a reasonable stopping point.
Then you say:
Here’s what I need to do:
- Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
- Decide in advance how many reviews this task gets.
- Review only to that limit.
- Stop when I reach the limit, even if some uncertainty remains.
Coach Lynn says:
Confidence grows every time you practice stopping. When you trust your limit instead of the urge to check again, you reclaim your time and learn that reasonable really is enough.
