“I have to figure this out before I sleep.”
“I have to solve this before I can sleep.”
When your voice says:
“I have to solve this before I can sleep.”
“If I stop thinking now, it’ll be worse tomorrow.”
Coach Lynn says:
Nighttime thinking often feels urgent because there are fewer distractions. That does not mean the best thinking has to happen now.
Then you say:
Here’s what I need to do:
- Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
- Write the problem and the next possible action on paper.
- Set a specific time tomorrow to revisit it.
- Give myself permission to rest before it is solved.
Coach Lynn says:
Your tired mind doesn’t have to solve tomorrow tonight. Rest clears the noise, restores your strength, and helps you wake up ready for the day.
