“There must be an explanation.”

“There has to be a reason. I need to find it.”

When your voice says:

“There has to be a reason. I need to find it.”

“I can’t stand not knowing.”

Coach Lynn says:

Some questions have answers. Some do not have answers yet. Some may never have a complete answer. You can still decide how to live with that uncertainty.

Then you say:

Here’s what I need to do:

  • Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
  • Draw two quick columns: "What I know" and "What I don't know yet." Put each piece of the puzzle in one column.
  • Ask: "What's one step I can take using only the 'What I know' column?" Then take it.
  • Tell myself: "I don't need that answer today." If the question comes back, glance at the list and return to what I'm doing.

Coach Lynn says:

You don't need every answer to choose your next step. When you act on what you know and let the rest wait, you meet the unknown with composure and keep moving with purpose.
