“I don’t deserve this opportunity.”

“This should have gone to someone more qualified.”

When your voice says:

“This should have gone to someone more qualified.”

“I’m nervous, so I must not deserve this.”

Coach Lynn says:

Opportunities are often invitations to grow, not rewards reserved only for people who feel fully ready.

Then you say:

Here’s what I need to do:

  • Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
  • Write down two or three things that got me here like the hours I put in, the skills I built, or the people who vouched for me.
  • Finish this sentence: "This opportunity can help me learn ___."
  • Take one step that says yes such as reply to the email, put the first meeting on my calendar, or start the first task.

Coach Lynn says:

You’re allowed to grow into an opportunity. When you accept the invitation instead of waiting to feel ready, nervous energy becomes fuel and you rise to meet the moment.
