“If I start, I have to finish.”
“If I start this, I have to finish it all in one go.”
When your voice says:
“If I start this, I have to finish it all in one go.”
“Starting just traps me in the whole thing.”
Coach Lynn says:
Initiating a task and completing it are two distinct choices. You can give yourself permission to start without locking yourself into a marathon work session.
Then you say:
Here’s what I need to do:
- Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
- Pledge to a modest initial step.
- Set a clear boundary to stop prior to starting.
- Assess my position once that boundary arrives.
Coach Lynn says:
Taking a single step doesn’t obligate you to complete the marathon. When you focus on a brief start, you break free from all-or-nothing pressure and steadily gain momentum.
