“Their success proves I have failed.”
“Their success means I’ve failed.”
When your voice says:
“Their success means I’ve failed.”
“There’s only so much success to go around, and they got it.”
Coach Lynn says:
Another person’s success can stir up longing or grief, but it does not erase your value or your possible next steps.
Then you say:
Here’s what I need to do:
- Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
- Finish this sentence: "Seeing their success makes me want ___."
- Name one small step toward that this week, such as signing up for a class, reaching out to someone, or setting aside time.
- Remind myself: "Their win shows me what's possible. It says nothing about my worth."
Coach Lynn says:
Someone else's success doesn't dim yours. When you let it show you what you want, envy turns into direction and you take your own next step with confidence.
