“They make it look easy.”

“It comes so easily to them.”

When your voice says:

“It comes so easily to them.”

“If I need practice, I must not have what it takes.”

Coach Lynn says:

You are measuring your demanding behind-the-scenes effort against another person’s finished, public success. Almost every mastery is built upon a long, unseen backstory.

Then you say:

Here’s what I need to do:

  • Take one or more Composure Breaths to settle my body.
  • Picture what I'm not seeing like the hours of practice, the drafts that didn't work, the coach or team behind them. Name one.
  • Pick one skill they do well that I want to build.
  • Do one round of practice on that skill today, even a short one.

Coach Lynn says:

What looks easy from a distance usually took years of unseen work. When you return to your own practice, you stop comparing and start building the skills that make it look easy.
