# “They will be upset if I say no.”

When your voice says:

“If I say no, they’ll be upset.”

“It’s easier to just say yes.”

You cannot control another person’s reaction, but you can give an honest answer about your capacity.

Then you say:

Here’s what I need to do:

- Do not answer immediately.
- Check my time, energy, and existing commitments.
- Give a clear response based on what I can reasonably do.
